 Contemporary Artist Yvonne Ward

Yvonne is originally from New York. Since childhood, she has led a creative life.  She painted, made handcrafts, sang and studied ballet, modern dance, jazz and theatre.  In Yvonne's words "art has always been an integral and important part of my life and a motivating force in everything I do. I am passionate about art."   Yvonne took classes in various art forms throughout her life and while raising her family.  She is the mother of a vibrant, bright and active teenager.

In 1978, Yvonne graduated from college with a Bachelor's degree in psychology.  It was in college where she had her first art exhibition featuring her original charcoal and graphite drawings.  Years later, Yvonne attended graduate school and received her Masters and Doctorate degrees in psychology.  Although she put her artwork on hold, Yvonne's doctoral dissertation  was all about creativity and how it related to divergent thinking and figurative language usage in particular.

Years later, Yvonne took a watercolor class at the New York Botanical Garden where she learned the basics of botanical illustration.  She also studied the art of digital photography as well as micro and macro photography at the Garden.  Yvonne became self-taught in pastel painting. She is primarily a  watercolorist and pastelist because these are her favorite painting mediums.  Over the years, she reproduced her artwork as postcards and blank note cards.  Yvonne also plans on producing giclee prints of her artwork in the near future.   Six years ago, Yvonne began her foray into sacred art which she believes can inspire people spiritually and help draw others to God. She is continuiing to pursue sacred art besides her secular art.
