Why I paint...
The dynamism, beauty and wonder of the world attracts me. I paint whatever inspires me, whatever moves my spirit and touches my heart. I paint the things I am passionate about. I enjoy the painterly aspect of pastels because I can draw and paint simultaneously. Watercolor allows me to capture the radiance and luminosity of life onto paper. Ordinary objects, simple moments and nature inspire my artwork. My compositions distill the beauty and inner spirit of what I see around me. I want people to see the beauty in ordinary and simple things. I want to brighten the world through art.
My life as an artist is an exciting adventure because in my travels I see pictures waiting to be painted. I see light, color, and texture. I want to capture what is moving and beautiful to my naked eye through my artistic eye. The process of painting has taught me to see beyond the ordinary. If my paintings can reflect a portion of what God has so graciously given to us in this world, then others will also see the beauty in the minutiae of life. If I could not paint, I would cease to live my life in the fullness of the glory of what God inspires in my creative imagination and what He brings to my artistic eye. Painting is my passion and also my gift.
